Young Batiatus finds himself in charge of a gladiator school. He decides to use his most skilled fighter as leverage to impress the nobleman behind the construction of the new arena.

Batiatus needs Lucretia's intelligence, Gaia's kindness and the power of the new gladiators to carry out his diabolical plan. Oenomaus, on the other hand, faces the obstacles of fate on his way to the top.

With his fortunes rising and his future looking bright, Batiatus is shaken by the unexpected return of his father. His efforts to rise above his class are now in jeopardy.

The House of Batiatus is caught in the maelstrom of father and son's struggle for power. Lucretia reluctantly agrees to her husband's risky plan. Gannicus finds himself on a slippery slope.

Batiatus' father announces a tournament to measure the worth of his gladiators. Crixus, trying to prove himself, is caught in the middle of the dynasty's games for the throne.

Batiatus yearns to avenge the insults he has suffered. As the new arena promises bloody fights, Batiatus keeps his gladiators and his servant Solonius at his side as a shield.
